global-local: Globalization and Migration. Psychological and Sociological Perspectives.

  • The available syllabus is the result of an interdisciplinary team work between a sociologist and psychologist, teaching together at the University of Education, Freiburg (Germany). In the beginning the paper introduces fundamental thoughts on interdisciplinary teaching and gives insight in the structure of the two seminars held together “Globalization and Migration” (Sociology) and “Dealing with Educational Disadvantaged Children and their Families”. In the following different examples and methods, as working with critical incidents, are presented. Thereby the instructional material is thematically focused on research about prejudice and stereotypes, dealing with cultural differences, gender roles/ gender identity, social roles and attribution modeling. The paper is completed by presenting a reflexive and process centered method of course assessment.
